Community guidelines
Last updated October 24, 2026
iCritiq is for talking about books with readers you trust. Disagree about books as much as you like; just be decent to the people. These guidelines apply to everything you post: your profile, reviews, videos and replies, and the book clubs you run and post in.
Be kind to people
- No harassment, bullying, threats, or piling on someone.
- No hate: don't attack people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or illness.
- Criticise the book, not the reader or the author as a person.
Keep it about books
- No spam, advertising, or posting the same thing over and over.
- Links are allowed, but they're checked by our moderators.
- Warn readers before you spoil a twist or an ending.
Keep it safe
- No sexual content or nudity, in words, pictures or video.
- No graphic violence, and nothing that encourages self-harm or harm to others.
- Nothing illegal, and nothing that exploits or endangers children.
Respect people's privacy and work
- Don't share anyone's personal information, like their address or phone number.
- Don't film people in your video reviews without their permission.
- Don't pretend to be someone else.
- Quote books briefly to make your point, but don't post long passages or anything you don't have the right to share.
How we keep iCritiq this way
- Reviews, replies, videos and club posts are checked automatically before they're posted. Some things can't be posted at all; others are posted and also sent to our moderators.
- Anyone can report a review, reply, reader, club or club post from the ⋯ menu, and you can block anyone. Reported posts stay up until a moderator has looked at them. A club's owner and moderators can also remove posts and members in their club.
- Our moderators may remove posts that break these guidelines, and warn, suspend or ban accounts, depending on how serious and how repeated the problem is. We'll tell you when we do.
- If you think we got it wrong, email support@atalias.com and we'll look again.
